We are proud to announce the successful completion and opening of the new Mission Thrift Store at 130 Greenwood Drive in Summerside, Prince Edward Island. This purpose-built retail space represents a meaningful collaboration between Mission Thrift Store and Bibles for Missions Foundation, Bayside Builders, the project’s general contractor, and LightRock, its developer and property owner.
This February 2025, Mission Thrift Store opened its doors at 130 Greenwood Drive, bringing second‑hand treasure hunting to Summerside—just across from Credit Union Place and the Dome.
The Mission Thrift Store is operated by Bibles for Missions, a national non-profit organization that channels proceeds from its thrift store operations into global outreach, including literacy, children's advocacy, evangelization and Bible distribution around the world. The organization’s Summerside location is one of over 50 across Canada and is run primarily by volunteers. It provides a thoughtfully curated selection of gently used household items, clothing, and furniture—making sustainable shopping accessible and affordable to the local community.
This project embodies our values as a development team: building well-designed, enduring spaces that enable meaningful community impact.
As the general contractor, Bayside Builders led the construction of the new store from pre-construction planning to project completion. With over 40 years of experience in both residential and commercial construction, our team ensured the building met modern efficiency standards while offering a welcoming, highly functional retail environment.
Features include:
Durable, low-maintenance exterior finishes suitable for a high-traffic commercial tenant
Accessible design, including barrier-free entry
Ample parking and visibility along Greenwood Drive, a growing retail and recreational corridor in Summerside
Revitalized Retail Experience: The polished, repurposed-goods store adds vibrancy to Greenwood Drive.
Empowering Purpose: Shoppers know that their purchases support global literacy and community uplift.
Economic Boost: Besides the construction process itself, Mission Thrift Store's well managed ongoing operations create local jobs and volunteer roles.
