Glimpses of starlight still pierce a deep Western sky as the warm glow of dawn streaks luminously across the East above the water, with moody clouds criss-crossing the sun's pathway. The coffee is hot, black. The razor is sharp. The prayers are uttered to the One who made it all in the first place. And then, the boots go on. An "I love you" to the early risers who make it all worth it. And the truck, spattered with rust dirt and the burden of blueprints and gear in the backseat, grinds to a start. The day has begun, and it's going to be a good one. Because, today, we get to "build stuff".
Bayside Builders is a full service general contractor, specializing in custom residential and commercial builds, multi-units, restoration/adaptive reuse projects, and in house design/build developments. Our masterful crew operates primarily on Prince Edward Island, Canada.
The Browns are an Island family with deep roots in the western part of the province. Peter Brown was born in 1954 in Richmond, Prince Edward Island, the fourth oldest child in a farming family of ten. After graduating high school in 1972, Peter journeyed across the country and worked construction jobs while exploring the great outdoors of British Columbia. During his time in the West, Peter realized he had both a passion and an aptitude for business and construction. He began contracting services and co-owned a Pro Shop at a local ski hill, and during that time met and married Muriel Boulanger - a local from Prince Rupert.
Peter longed for the lifestyle found on the red shores of Prince Edward Island, so Peter and Muriel settled in Richmond and began their family. True to his passion, Peter founded Bayside Contracting in 1983 and became a Four-Seasons Sunroom franchise in 1986. In 1988, Peter purchased the Vancouver Four-Seasons franchise and moved there for a year to reconnect with Muriel’s family. In 1989, Peter and his family made the decision to move back to PEI and opened Bayside Wood Products Inc, manufacturing cabinets and other large-scale carpentry projects.
Between 1989 and 2010, now as Bayside Builders, Peter and his formidable local crew, built numerous homes, agricultural buildings, government projects, as well as several large executive homes, luxury restorations, and many custom projects. He and Muriel found their greatest legacy in their five children - Christina, Brendon, Timothy, Scott, and Hannah - who, in turn, grew up surrounded by the construction industry and watched their father and mother work tirelessly side by side with a team they loved like family, to build and improve their community, and even serve off-Island endeavors with their craftsmanship.
Peter’s work left an impression on his children and many of them have worked within the company over the years. Alongside those children still involved, Peter is proud to also have a best in class team at his side, day after day. Over the past forty years, he has also trained and launched many internal crew members out on their own as entrepreneurs and notable business owners in various local industries.
Today, two of Peter's children still work in the company, and are partners on the team leading Bayside Builders into the future.
Bayside Builders continues to build for private residential and commercial clients, according to our capacity. And, today, we're doing so much more.
Bayside Builders is committed to continuing our legacy of housing innovation with a view to serving the total spectrum of clientele. The population growth championed by our country and province demands an aggressive system of support for individuals and families seeking safe, affordable, comfortable homes where they can build a future. Bayside Builders is on the forefront of such solutions, pioneering attainability, sustainability and scalability here on our Island.
For example, Bayside Builders is currently engaged as the project manager and primary builder on a large-scale, master-planned residential subdivision in Summerside, Canada, called Greenwood Crossing.
As a legacy company built on strong family foundations, Bayside Builders draws upon the wisdom of our founders to drive the vision far past temporary solutions for a single demographic of today, into the sphere of expansive, lasting solutions that foresee, study and ponder the needs and impacts of what we build. The social impact on intergenerational families and the environmental impact on the Island itself for the next 100 years, are everyday criteria here. In this way, we aim to bless the future generations with thoughtfully planned communities, hometowns and lifestyles that will endure.
